ABIR announces string of leadership appointments

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) has announced changes in the leadership of its most influential committee and an expansion of its working groups’ focus areas, drawing on the professional talent of member companies.

AbirThe firm has announced that Jim Paugh, of Arch Re, has been appointed Co-Chair of the ABIR Policy Committee, alongside continuing Co-Chair Jevon Williams, of Chubb Bermuda.

In the role, Paugh replaces Gemma Carreiro, of Hamilton, who served a two-year stint in the Co-Chair role. At the same time, Shannon Lowry Bender, of RenaissanceRe, will serve as the Deputy Chair.

ABIR’s Policy Committee is made up of leading legal and compliance professionals within the Bermuda re/insurance market. The committee carries out important work for ABIR’s member companies, such as reviewing insurance regulation in Bermuda and overseas, international regulatory standards, public policy in Bermuda, and US natural disaster policy and regulation.

Moreover, ABIR stated that its Cyber Working Group has been expanded to address underwriting and information security risks within what has become a fast-growing sector of the Bermuda market.

Devin Page, of Ascot, has been appointed Cyber Underwriting Chair, with Yosha DeLong, of Mosaic Insurance, the Cyber Deputy Underwriting Chair.

Allen Wilson, of AXIS Capital, was selected as Cyber Information Security Chair, while Lloyd Holder, of SiriusPoint, will serve as Cyber Deputy Information Security.

In addition, the new ABIR Solvency Enhancement Working Group will address regulatory, solvency enhancements, with Liz Cunningham, of Somers Re being named as Chair. Elsewhere, Suzanne Williams-Charles, ABIR’s Director of Policy and Regulation, Corporate Secretary, and Data Privacy Officer, will staff the Policy Committee and both working groups.
