Reinsurance firm QBE Re has announced several promotions and appointments for its New York office.

He joined QBE Re in April 2021 as senior vice president and head of US financial and professional lines from Swiss Re. In addition, the fin pro and casualty sub classes have been merged under his leadership to further unify the product offering.

In addition, Jane Farren has been promoted to the role of vice president, US financial and professional lines having previously held the role of lead financial and professional lines treaty underwriter.

Meanwhile Tim Barber has been appointed as general manager for North America on a permanent basis, having assumed the role on an interim basis in April. Prior to this, he was head of casualty treaty London since 2011. He will also perform the role of global head of casualty treaty.

These appointments come only a few weeks after Steve Postlewhite, managing director of QBE Re, announced that he was leaving the firm after four years.

It was following this that Wilkins assumed his current role, overseeing  QBE Re’s new global alignment strategy and development plans, which were disclosed back in May.

In May 2022, Wilkins was appointed to the newly created role of CUO, QBE Re taking ownership of underwriting performance, strategy, and planning.

As part of the new structure, Global Product Leaders were appointed for each of QBE Re’s lines of business, reporting to Wilkins. These were Paul Horgan as head of property, Barber as head of casualty, Simon Parkinson as head of accident and health, Shane Lawlor as head of specialty, and Bruno Guelle as head of life.
