Ageas Re, the reinsurance brand of international insurance group Ageas, has opened a new branch in Zurich and appointed Anne Deister as Branch Manager.
The establishment of Ageas SA/NV Zurich Branch (Ageas SA/NV, Brussels, Swiss Branch Zurich) allows the company to write reinsurance contracts directly from Zurich on Ageas SA/NV’s established paper. This setup ensures the continued security of the risk carrier for clients and partners, with Ageas SA/NV remaining the risk carrier. However, with the incorporation of a branch in Switzerland, Zurich-based underwriters are now able to write business on behalf of Ageas SA/NV.
Starting January 1, 2025, all business handled by Zurich-based underwriters will be signed and stamped in Zurich. Initially, this will include all casualty lines globally and property for the DACH region, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Nordics.
Deister brings nearly two decades of industry experience to her new role. She joined Ageas Re in October 2022 as Senior Property Underwriter and most recently served as Lead Underwriting Manager.
Before that, she spent 15 years at AXIS Capital, most recently as Vice President Underwriter Property. Earlier in her career, she served as a Natural Perils Specialist at Gen Re.
Additionally, to support its growth, Ageas Re announced it relocated to a larger office within the same building on November 4, 2024.
