AIG appoints Adam Burk as Global Treasurer & Head of Corporate Development

Global insurer American International Group (AIG) has announced the appointment of Adam Burk as Global Treasurer and Head of Corporate Development, alongside his current role as Head of Corporate Development.

aig-logoBurk will continue reporting to Sabra Purtill, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AIG.

In his expanded role, Burk will oversee AIG’s global treasury activities, including capital management, banking and rating agency relationships, global capital markets, liquidity and cash management, in addition to leading the Corporate Development and Strategy team.

Purtill expressed enthusiasm for Burk’s appointment, stating, “Adam is an accomplished financial executive who has contributed to many important initiatives that helped to strengthen AIG’s balance sheet and enhance our financial flexibility as we repositioned AIG as a leading global property and casualty insurer.”

She added, “I look forward to working closely with Adam in this expanded leadership role.”

Burk joined AIG in 2013 as Director of Corporate Development and has since held various leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer of Global Operations and General Insurance Corporate Development.

Additionally, Burk serves as a Board Member for both Azur Group and Corebridge Financial.

Previously, Burk worked in investment banking focusing on financial institutions specialising in insurance at firms such as Citigroup, Nomura, and Morgan Stanley.

Sharing his excitement for his new role, Burk said, “I am pleased to take on these important responsibilities working very closely with our teams across AIG to deliver on our capital management goals and support the company’s strategic initiatives to deliver value for our stakeholders.”
