AIG appoints Zurich’s Jonathan Wismer to three senior positions

American International Group (AIG) has appointed Jonathan Wismer, former Group Controller for Zurich Insurance Group, to the positions of Senior Vice President (SVP), Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Chief Accounting Officer, effective immediately.

jonathan-wismerHe succeeds Elias Habayeb, who was appointed as CFO for General Insurance in May, and will report to Sid Sankaran, Executive Vice President and CFO of AIG.

Wismer served at Zurich between 2015 and 2017 and brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership roles at Fortune 100 international re/insurance companies, with particular focus on property-casualty business.

His extensive career includes nine years at Liberty Mutual, which culminated in his appointment as SVP & CFO, Liberty International, as well as a number of senior financial and regulatory reporting positions at Allianz Group in Munich, and earlier at KPMG.

Sankaran commented: “Jon’s more than 23 years of financial experience and leadership roles within the insurance and reinsurance industry, together with his extensive international experience, will provide valuable perspective to the company. He will play an integral role within the finance team as we support AIG’s overall goal of delivering sustainable, profitable growth.”
