Amiga Specialty, an independent international managing general agent (MGA) headquartered in London, has announced the appointment of David Filtness as Managing Director, Professional Indemnity.
In his new position, Filtness will lead the development of Amiga’s Professional Indemnity proposition, further strengthening the specialist MGA’s financial lines offering following its launch earlier this year.
Amiga Specialty has demonstrated significant momentum since its market entry in summer 2025. This success has been supported by the company’s high-quality underwriting talent, a disciplined trading strategy, and strong support from committed capacity partners.
Adam Kembrooke, Founder and Managing Director of Amiga Specialty, commented: “Professional Indemnity is a core pillar of our strategy, so we are delighted to welcome David to Amiga. His depth of experience and standing in the PI market are exceptional.
“David brings a rare combination of technical underwriting expertise, commercial acumen and trusted broker and insurer relationships. He will play a critical role in building a high-quality, sustainable PI portfolio as we continue to execute our growth plans.”
Filtness joins Amiga from Chubb UK & Ireland, where he was Head of Professional Indemnity. Prior to that, he held senior PI underwriting roles at Arch Insurance and specialised in Professional Indemnity across positions at Towergate Underwriting, Gallagher and Aon.
Commenting on his appointment, Filtness said: “After 25 years in the PI market across broking, insurers and MGAs, Amiga stood out as a genuinely compelling opportunity. It offers the chance to build a PI proposition that works for brokers, capacity providers and clients alike. Amiga’s approach aligns closely with how I believe PI should be traded: relationship led, consistent, responsive and grounded in disciplined underwriting.”
He added: “With a strong platform, committed investment and an exceptional team, Amiga is well positioned to deliver what the market expects from a modern MGA. My focus is clear — to build a profitable, sustainable book for capacity partners, provide high-quality support to brokers and deliver a robust, dependable product for clients.”
The appointment follows Amiga’s recent announcement that it had secured multimillion capacity via the Accelerant Risk Exchange and represents the latest step in the firm’s strategic growth.
Since its launch, Amiga Specialty has continued to grow its team, appointing a number of senior market leaders, including Martin Mills as Non-Executive Chairman; James Rasmussen as Managing Director, Management Liability UK & Europe; Jamie Ricketts as Managing Director, DOFI; Richard Mills as Managing Director, Transactional Risks; and Ralph Sherbahn as Managing Director, Financial Lines, Asia Pacific.
Kembrooke added: “It is hugely encouraging when talented, well-respected individuals choose to join Amiga. The calibre of team we are assembling enables us to remain relentlessly focused on service excellence and expert, profitable underwriting.”
