Aon Netherlands completes acquisition of UMG from Aegon

Aon Groep Nederland, the Netherlands subsidiary of global insurance and reinsurance broker Aon, has completed the acquisition of Unirobe Meeus Group (UMG) from Aegon, for €295 million (US$343 million).

mergers and acquisitions reinsuranceThe transaction includes the whole of UMG and strengthens Aon’s position in the Netherlands marketplace, improving its presence in the SME and consumer markets.

Country Manager of Aon Netherlands, Marc van Nuland, said; “This acquisition will drive value for clients of both UMG and Aon as we combine the knowledge and experience of UMG with Aon’s teams in the Netherlands, as well as with our global network.”

The deal was first announced in early August, when Aegon said it expects the sale to result in an increase of Solvency II capital of approximately €225 million (US$267 million).
