Apollo, the specialist Lloyd’s re/insurance group, has announced leadership changes for the Construction line of business as Tim Cook prepares to retire from his role as Head of Construction on 31 December 2025.
As part of a planned succession, Matt Larke assumed the role of Class Leader, Construction Physical Damage in April 2025.
Since then, the executive has already taken on day-to-day leadership and is driving the next phase of development for the class.
The Construction team continues to expand its technical capabilities, recently welcoming Laura Sylvester, who joined in July from RSA/Intact, bringing deep expertise to support Apollo’s growing portfolio and strategic expansion.
Tim Cook joined Apollo in 2022 with a short-term intention to establish and commence writing Construction Physical Damage.
Since joining the company, he has laid strong foundations for the class, built meaningful broker relationships, and positioned the company as a credible and growing market presence.
Prior to Apollo, he served at Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality, where he was the North American Regional Head of Energy & Construction.
James Slaughter, Group CUO, commented: “Tim has brought deep technical expertise and thoughtful leadership to Apollo’s Construction business. His work establishing the class has created a strong platform for future growth.
“With Matt firmly in place and already leading the class, supported by a talented and expanded team, we have a clear plan for continued success and value creation for clients.”
