United Insurance Brokers Limited (UIB) has hired Hugo Cardona to lead its Latin America and Caribbean treaty reinsurance business out of Miami.
Cardona joins from Wind Field International LLC, where he served for over six years, chiefly as Managing Director.
At Wind Field, he was tasked with providing international brokers, reinsurers and insurers with board, management & underwriting expertise in treaty and facultative multiline business, P&L management, operation optimization and project management.
Before this, Cardona was Regional Head of Latin America And Caribbean for Echo Re, a role he held for over four years.
An industry veteran, Cardona has also previously operated in senior roles at Aspen, OdysseyRe, Island Heritage Insurance Company, Aon Benfield, and PartnerRe.
In related news, back in June, UIB expanded its presence in Asia with the addition of four new professionals: Richard Oh, Saw Tong Nee, Rita Au and Tam Hui Von.
At the time, UIB noted that this move underscores its commitment to excellence and its ambition to deliver unparalleled service to clients across that region.
