Chaucer’s Nicola Stacey elected President of CII

Nicola Stacey, Chief Underwriting Officer at Chaucer, has been elected President of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

CIIThe CII is the leading professional membership organisation for the insurance sector, representing over 120,000 members in the UK and internationally.

Stacey, who is currently the Deputy President of the CII, will succeed Ian Callaghan as President on January 1, 2025.

Richard Milner, CEO of Chaucer, stated, “All Nicola’s colleagues at Chaucer are delighted to see Nicola being elected as president of the CII. We know that she will be a tremendous asset to them in this new role. It’s a great opportunity for Nicola to demonstrate her leadership and 30 years of insurance expertise to the wider industry.”

Stacey brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, having worked at Chaucer for the past five years. As Chief Underwriting Officer, she oversees the development of Chaucer’s underwriting strategy, focusing on portfolio growth.

Before joining Chaucer, Stacey spent 13 years at Swiss Re in various senior roles, most recently as Head of Risk Management for Property & Casualty Reinsurance. She has also held positions at General Electric Insurance Solutions and GE Frankona Re.

Commenting on her new role, Stacey said, “I am proud to be elected the new president of the CII and would like to thank all the members who voted.”

She added, “I’m also really looking forward to supporting and working with the members and the Board, to deliver the CII’s clear and sensible strategy that aims to build public trust in the insurance profession.”
