Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has appointed April Engelman as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the North American region, effective immediately. She replaces Mark Hansen, who was recently promoted to Gallagher Re’s Chief Operating Officer.
Engelman will be based in Minneapolisand will report to Brian Flasinski, who was recently appointed as the Chief Executive Officer, Gallagher Re North America.
Flasinski commented on the appointment, “We are thrilled to welcome April to the North American leadership team. April brings a wealth of knowledge across operations, deep expertise and proven leadership – invaluable assets to support the business as we embark on the next chapter of our growth story. We are also excited to have filled this position from our existing talent.”
Engelman joined Gallagher Re in 2021 during the firm’s Willis Re acquisition. Since then, she has served as Executive Vice President and Operations Director for North America, and played an integral role in the transition during the acquisition and beyond.
Before Gallagher Re, she spent nearly 19 years at Willis Re as Senior Vice President, Regional Operations Manager for the Midwest.
