The telematics arm of the global insurance group, Howden Driving Data, has announced a five-year contract extension with Unigarant, the insurance company belonging to the Dutch roadside recovery brand, The Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB).
The partnership between the two companies began in 2016 with the launch of Drive Safe, the Netherlands’ first-ever telematics insurance product.
Drive Safe emphasises on road safety, sustainable development, and rewarding safer drivers through driver safety measures, premium discounts, feedback, coaching, and intervention.
Over the term of the extended agreement, the collaboration aims to build on the continued success of the solutions. Key aims are to deliver improved loss ratios and fairer pricing for policyholders, increase automation to improve efficiency, and invest in additional features and benefits to enhance customer service.
Jon Law, Managing Director of Howden Driving Data, commented: “We are delighted to have extended our partnership with Unigarant for a further 5 years. Shared beliefs in innovation, road safety and making insurance more affordable for all have been at the core of our relationship this past 7 years, and we look forward to evolving the Unigarant Drive Safe product and witnessing its continued growth.”
Marin Roos, Director of IT and Innovation at Unigarant, added: “Moving towards safer drivers, safer roads, and focusing on fewer traffic casualties – since embarking on our journey in 2016, we have demonstrated that assisting customers to become better drivers not only enhances road safety but also leads to fewer claims and more affordable insurance.
“Additionally, we have extended our support for local governments and road management organizations in the Netherlands through our partnership with ANWB, aiding the improvement and safety of traffic infrastructure. This has been made possible by leveraging the wealth of non-personalized driving events data we have collected with Howden Driving Data, and our partnership provides ample opportunity for further development and advancement in this field.”
