Assurex Global, a privately held commercial insurance, risk management, and employee benefits brokerage group, has announced the election of Kristy Furrer as Chairwoman of its Board of Directors.

Furrer, who is Senior Vice President at Woodruff Sawyer, was elected during the 2024 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting held on October 31 in Washington, D.C.

Woodruff Sawyer, based in San Francisco, is an independent insurance brokerage and consulting firm in the US, serving more than 4,000 companies ranging from tech startups to multinational corporations.

Furrer, who has been with Woodruff Sawyer since 1999, has played a key role in advancing Assurex Global’s initiatives. In addition to her appointment as chairwoman, she was re-elected to a new three-year term on the board.

“We are thrilled to have Kristy’s leadership and experience as our chairwoman as Assurex Global continues to actively participate in the growth and success of our Partner Firms,” added Assurex Global President & CEO Dean Hildebrandt. “Kristy has dedicated seven years of service to the board already, and we look forward to her further contributions as chair.”

Furrer succeeds Jim Kapnick, of Kapnick Insurance in Troy, Michigan, as chairperson of Assurex Global’s Board of Directors. Kapnick had held the role since his election in 2022.

“I am eager to continue advancing the strong course set by Assurex Global under Jim and Dean’s leadership,” Furrer commented.

“With Assurex Global experiencing unprecedented growth and strength, it’s a truly exciting time to be involved. I’m committed to upholding our Partner-first philosophy, ensuring that as we grow, we remain focused on delivering exceptional value to Assurex Global brokers at every step.”

Alongside Furrer’s appointment as Chairwoman, Stefan Nill of LEUE & NILL and Grantland Rice IV of CAC Group were elected as new board members for the upcoming term.

Nill brings extensive experience, having previously served on the board from 2008 to 2020. Additionally, Bob Harrison of The Daniel and Henry Co. was re-elected to the board for another three-year term.
