PoloWorks, a collective of Lloyd’s and London Market insurance services businesses, has announced the appointment of Mel Carvill as Chairman of Polo Insurance Managers.
Mark Elliott, CEO of Polo Insurance Managers, commented: “We are delighted that Mel has joined PIM as Chairman. He brings a level of seniority and experience which will benefit both PIM’s clients and the business”.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, Carvill has held various senior positions within the Generali Group. His roles have included Head of Risk Management, Head of Corporate Finance and M&A, Head of Strategic Planning, and Head of Western Europe, Americas, and the Middle East.
Currently, Carvill serves as Vice Chairman of Aviva-Cofco Life Insurance in China, Non-Executive Chairman of Financial Services Opportunities Investment Fund Ltd, and Non-Executive Chairman of Bank of Georgia Group plc.
Additionally, he holds a Non-Executive Director position at Clearbank Group Holdings Ltd and serves on the boards of Guernsey Investment Fund Limited and Home Credit N.V.
Previously, Carvill served as the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Aviva Life Holdings UK Limited and Aviva Life & Pensions UK Limited. He also held the position of Senior Independent Director at Sanne Group Plc and served as Chairman of Friends Life Limited.
