Specialty insurer Mosaic Insurance has announced the appointments of Karen Reilly as Head of US, Environmental Liability, and David Barr as Head of International, Environmental Liability.
Reilly and Barr will focus on developing innovative products to address emerging environmental risks while helping clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. Their goals include expanding the division’s capabilities, increasing market share, and enhancing Mosaic’s reputation as a leader in environmental insurance.
Jim Finnamore, Global Head of Environmental Liability at Mosaic, expressed enthusiasm for the appointments, stating, “We’re proud to announce Karen and David to lead our growth and expand market engagement across their respective focus regions.”
He added, “Both are highly respected, accomplished talents in our industry and their deep expertise will help drive our corporate growth in the sector.”
Reilly brings over two decades of experience in Environmental Insurance, Risk Management, and Casualty Insurance.
She joined Mosaic in July 2024 as Senior Vice President of Environmental Liability to drive strategic business expansion across the Americas.
Previously, Reilly served as Senior Director of Pollution at Liberty Mutual Insurance and spent 13 years at Ironshore Insurance in key leadership roles, including Senior Vice President and Product Line Manager. Earlier in her career, she worked at AIG and ING.

Barr has over 30 years of experience in environmental insurance underwriting, broking, the petroleum industry, and environmental consultancy.
He has been with Mosaic since October 2022, when the company launched its global environmental liability division, joining as SVP, Senior Underwriter, Environmental Liability.
Before joining Mosaic, Barr served as Class Underwriter for Environmental Impairment Liability at SCOR and held a similar role at Channel Syndicate 2015 for seven years. He has also held key positions at Chubb, Marsh, and WTW.
Barr stated, “These are truly exciting times at Mosaic, and I am thrilled to lead our continued international expansion, enabling Mosaic to offer insurance solutions globally to our retail and wholesale broking partners and customers.”
