Life and health reinsurer Pacific Life Re has appointed Kenichi Kim as Head of South Korea, overseeing its growth and operations in the region.

Kim brings over 15 years of experience in financial services and reinsurance, having held roles across Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.

He joined Pacific Life Re in 2022, where he was tasked with driving growth in the protection lines of business across the Asia region.

In 2023, Kim expanded his responsibilities to include support for the South Korea client solutions team.

Vasan Errakiah, managing director, Protection, Asia, Pacific Life Re, commented, “Kenichi has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and achieved outstanding results in his previous roles.

“He has built a cohesive client solutions team, and we are confident that his experience and dedication will be key to driving and implementing our strategic growth in South Korea.”

Kim added, “I look forward to working with the team in South Korea to deliver innovative, customised products and services, offering responsive, on-the-ground reinsurance support to our clients.”

In related news, earlier this year, Pacific Life Re completed a longevity swap reinsurance agreement with Nationale-Nederlanden (NN Life) in the Netherlands, strengthening its international reach.

The agreement covers a €2 billion portfolio of in-force individual annuity policies and includes a long-term commitment to reinsure future new business through a flow arrangement.
