Pen Underwriting, a multi-class multi-territory managing general agent (MGA), has appointed Darren Glover as Senior Development Underwriter for Northern Ireland.
Glover joins Pen’s Commercial Risk Managed team, which serves brokers and clients across the UK, expanding its network of dedicated underwriting expertise to Northern Ireland.
In the new role, Glover will facilitate the broker-focused expansion of Pen’s risk management-led commercial insurance business in Northern Ireland, manage and underwrite performance of the portfolio, with Northern Ireland identified as a key region for growth.
He reports to Gordon Williams, Regional Underwriting Manager for Scotland & Northern Ireland at Pen Underwriting and will work closely with Barry McCormick, Pen’s Business Development Manager for Scotland & Northern Ireland.
Glover has over three decades of experience across property, casualty and property owners’ risks. He started his career as a commercial insurance broker and has since held various senior development underwriter and underwriting manager roles, all based in Northern Ireland.
Since 2021, Glover has served at MGA Generation Underwriting as Northern Ireland Underwriting Manager. Before this, he worked at MS Amlin, Chubb, Zurich and RSA.
The firm explained that this appointment of a Belfast-based development underwriter further expands its existing UK regional network, making it easier for brokers in Northern Ireland to trade with the MGA.
