Global reinsurer SCOR has appointed senior reinsurance professional Alfredo Lomeli as P&C Reinsurance Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Latin America & Caribbean.
He will be taking over the role from James Grieve, who will be retiring this year after having worked at SCOR for over seventeen years.
Pierre Favennec, CUO for MEA & LAC said: “I am delighted to announce the promotion of Alfredo Lomeli as SCOR P&C Reinsurance CUO for Latin America & Caribbean after a transition period with James Grieve, who will be retiring in Summer 2023.
“I wish to warmly thank James for his commitment, dedication, and ability to steer the LAC portfolio in the region over the last 16 years.”
Based in Miami, Lomeli joined the reinsurer in 2017 as SVP Senior Treaty Underwriter. Prior to that, he spent almost 14 years at Guy Carpenter.
He worked at Guy Carpenter London structuring and placing programs for Latin America in Lloyd’s and the European market during 2005. He also worked in the analysis, placement and quotation of Reinsurance Treaties for Mexico and Central America.
Additionally, during his time at Guy Carpenter, he worked together with the company’s offices in the Latin American region for treaty analysis for their clients. As well as in the analysis of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies and their portfolios, among other things.
Before this, he was a Financial Analyst for Pip Latam, a role he held for over a year.
