Sompo International, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty re/insurance, has announced two appointments for its Iberian Insurance operation.
Joining from Generali is José María Conde-Salazar, who has been named Head of Distribution & Client Relationship Management. Meanwhile, Olivier Marcén, who joined from AIG, has been appointed Head of Professional Lines.
They will both report into Jamie Canellas, Country Manager, Insurance, Iberia, who commented: “With these latest appointments to our Iberia leadership team, Sompo International has taken another step forward in its quest to attract and retain top talent and provide industry-leading services across Continental Europe.
“As we look to build and strengthen productive partnerships with clients and brokers, in support of the company’s strategies, José Maria and Olivier’s extensive experience coupled with their strong business relationships will be invaluable in developing our position as a leader within the Iberian insurance market.”
Conde-Salazar has over two decades of experience in the Iberian insurance market. His most previous role was as Head of Clients and Brokers for Iberia and Latin America with Generali Global.
Prior to that, he worked for ACE European Group for over ten years. Throughout his career, Conde-Salazar has also held roles with Marsh, and AIG Europe.
Marcén joined Sompo International from AIG where he spent the last 17 years, most recently as Manager, Cyber and Professional Indemnity Technology Underwriting Operations in Barcelona.
