Gallagher has appointed Sompo International’s Joe Gilliland as Executive Director within its US crisis management team.
As Executive Director of the practice, Gilliland will work closely with Gallagher’s existing US team led by Bill Harrison, who is also an Executive Director, and will hold responsibility for driving Gallagher’s growth plans across the region.
In addition, Gilliland will report to Paul Bassett, Managing Director of crisis management for Gallagher Specialty.
He joins the company from Sompo Intl. where, for the last two years, he has served as Vice President of crisis management underwriting and the team lead for North America.
Throughout his distinguished career in the industry, Gilliland has served in senior crisis management positions at major firms, such as Beazley and Aon.
Gilliland has worked across all elements of crisis management and brings specialist experience in terrorism, political violence and active shooter insurance and risk management solutions, towards his new role at Gallagher.
Addressing his new role, Gilliland said: “I am thrilled to be joining Gallagher and to have the opportunity to further develop its crisis management offering in the US. The products and services available to clients looking to protect their business from harm have developed over recent years and Gallagher has taken a proactive risk management approach to support its client base. I will be looking to build on this and further develop specialised offerings and additional consultancy services.”
