Starr Insurance Companies has announced that John Patin, Senior Investment Officer (SIO), has resigned from his position for personal reasons. The company has confirmed that John F. Shannon, formerly with Alleghany Corp., has been named to succeed him.
Based in New York, Shannon previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Alleghany, which was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in October 2022.
Before he joined Alleghany, Shannon spent more than 11 years of service at MetLife Investments as VP, global portfolio management.
Prior to MetLife, Shannon spent five years working at Prudential Financial as an investment analyst.
Moreover, Patin served in his role as SIO for just over three years. Before he joined Starr, Patin spent just under seven years at Allied World, where he held the roles of SVP and Chief Investment Officer.
Maurice R. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “We wish John Patin great success in his future endeavors. We’re confident Mr. Shannon will serve Starr well, given his extensive experience managing insurance assets for some of the largest U.S. insurers.”
