Echo Re names Paul Hertelendy as new CUO

Zurich domiciled reinsurer Echo Re has announced the appointment of Paul Hertelendy, formerly of SCOR, as its new Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

paul-hertelendy-echo-reHertelendy takes over as CUO from Piotr Nowakowski, who after serving for nine years with the company is leaving to pursue a new professional challenge.

“We very much thank Piotr for his contribution to develop Echo Re’s Underwriting activities throughout the last few years and wish him all the best for his professional and private future,” said Gilles Meyer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Echo Re.

Hertelendy brings more than 25 years of reinsurance sector experience to the role, with expertise in property and specialty lines and a proven track record in strategy and business development.

He joins from his most recent role as Chief Reinsurance Investment Officer at Bernina Re Ltd. and Head of Reinsurance at Credit Suisse ILS Ltd.

Earlier in his career, he served as the Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty Lines at SCOR for a number of years, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of SCOR Services Switzerland.
