The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR), the trade association representing Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance sector, has appointed Elizabeth Breeze as its new Treasurer.

abir-logoBreeze, who serves as Head of Hiscox Capital Partners, joined Hiscox in 2012 and took on her current position in 2025. She brings more than two decades of experience in capital markets, insurance and reinsurance, alongside senior financial and strategic leadership experience. Prior to her current role, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Hiscox Re.

Her professional career started at KPMG in London, where she qualified as a chartered accountant and worked primarily on audits of companies operating in the London insurance market. Breeze later moved to KPMG Bermuda, where she worked with reinsurance businesses on audit and advisory assignments.

ABIR has also made changes to its Finance Committee, appointing Kierra Smith, Chief Financial Officer of Convex Re Ltd.; Haynes Finney, Bermuda CFO at PartnerRe; and John Huff, President and CEO of ABIR, as new committee members.

ABIR Chair Mark Cloutier said: “On behalf of the board of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, I wish to welcome the new members of the Finance Committee. ABIR remains well-capitalised and looks forward to continuing its role as a leading advocacy, public policy and education trade association for the Bermuda market for many years to come. At this time, I also recognise outgoing Treasurer, Paul Konyecsni, for his years of dedication. I congratulate him on his retirement from Axis and thank him for his service.”

The appointments follow the retirement of Paul Konyecsni from Axis. ABIR said the new Finance Committee members will support the association’s ongoing work on financial and industry matters affecting Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance market.
