ACORD, the global standards-setting body for the insurance industry, has announced the appointment of Tim Ellis as Managing Director – UK.

ACORDThe organisation develops data standards to support consistent and efficient information exchange across insurance markets, and says Ellis will focus on advancing the uptake and evolution of ACORD Data Standards while supporting digital transformation across the London Market and international re/insurance and specialty sectors.

Ellis is an experienced figure in the London Market, with a career spanning more than 25 years. During that time, he has worked extensively on initiatives involving standardised data exchange, engaging with organisations such as Lloyd’s, Velonetic, and a broad range of brokers, insurers, reinsurers, and technology providers. ACORD adds that his work has involved helping firms manage complex operational change and develop more innovative ways of working.

“I’ve always thrived at the intersection of vision and execution, and I’m passionate about future-ready tech ecosystems,” commented Ellis. “I’ve been working with the ACORD Data Standards for decades, and I believe that now, more than ever, they are the key to building a digital future for our industry.”

According to ACORD, Ellis previously served as Operations Director at Web Connectivity Limited, where his responsibilities included business transformation initiatives, stakeholder engagement, software delivery, and information security. He also spent time within the information systems advisory practice at EY.

“Tim has both a long history with the ACORD Standards, and deep expertise in the ongoing modernization of the market,” added Tanya Krochta, ACORD EVP, COO, and acting CEO. “This pedigree, and his operational focus, make him the ideal leader for this role.”

ACORD states that the appointment aligns with Clarissa Montecillo’s transition to ACORD Solutions Group, where she will take on the role of Global Head of Consulting & Advisory. The organisation says she will build on her experience leading ACORD’s UK operations to establish an expanded consulting and advisory offering aimed at supporting industry-wide digitalisation.

“This expanded consulting arm will join together the full strength of ACORD Standards, ASG digital assets, and our deep expertise in processes and data to drive efficiency, interoperability, and real business impact for the insurance community,” said Montecillo.

ACORD notes that ACORD Solutions Group, its wholly owned subsidiary founded in 2016 at the request of its member community, was created to help address key industry challenges and promote more effective digital data exchange. The organisation adds that the enhanced advisory capability will also draw on the expertise of its Licensed Integrator Partners, a network of specialists in digital transformation.

“Clarissa has played a key role in driving the benefits of ACORD Standards-enabled data exchange across global markets, and we’re delighted she’ll be applying that expertise and dedication to building the consulting practice at ASG,” commented Chris Newman, President & CEO, ACORD Solutions Group. “This is an important evolution in the way ASG supports the industry. We’re creating a more integrated model that brings together standards, technology, and industry insights to accelerate real change.”
