Acrisure, a global fintech company offering insurance, reinsurance, real estate and financial services, has launched Asero Insurance Services, a new specialty managing general agency (MGA) that consolidates a number of the company’s programme administrators under a single brand across the United States.

Acrisure logoThe company said Asero has been established to bring together specialist underwriting businesses while retaining their individual expertise.

According to Acrisure, the platform combines underwriting knowledge with shared access to data and analytics, actuarial support and technology, enabling the businesses to underwrite complex and difficult-to-place risks. Acrisure added that Asero also benefits from the company’s centralised legal, regulatory, finance, accounting, human resources and other corporate services.

The company owns 13 MGAs in the US that collectively underwrite more than $1bn in premium, with six initially joining the Asero brand and others expected to transition over time.

Acrisure said Asero’s underwriting teams operate under delegated authority agreements with independent insurance carriers, allowing the business to underwrite and issue policies on the carriers’ behalf. The company’s products are distributed through independent retail brokers, wholesale brokers and alternative distribution channels.

Asero provides insurance solutions for small and medium-sized businesses operating in sectors including commercial motor, logistics, commercial property, security and alarm contractors, artisan contractors, and snow and ice removal. Its portfolio includes property, casualty, workers’ compensation and a range of specialist insurance products.

Chris Bressette, Chief Underwriting Officer at Acrisure, commented: “Asero combines specialised underwriting expertise with deep data, analytics, and claims insight across a select group of businesses and categories. This framework allows us to draw on our shared expertise while preserving the specialisation and trusted relationships that have always defined our teams.”

Adrian Jones, Head of Underwriting and Specialty Retail at Acrisure, added: “Asero is the next step in unifying nearly 20 acquisitions into a single underwriting platform. Each program within Asero is run by a team of professionals with deep experience in a particular product or class of business. At Asero, underwriting comes first.”

The launch of Asero follows Acrisure’s introduction of Ascendri Insurance Services and its acquisition of property MGA Vave earlier this year, as the company continues to expand its specialty underwriting operations.
