Lloyd’s syndicate AEGIS London has announced the appointment of Neil Bayles as its Chief Information Officer (CIO), a newly created position.
In his new role, Bayles will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s IT strategy, ensuring it aligns with and supports the wider corporate objectives.
A key aspect of his role will be the strategic use of technology to improve service quality and to leverage emerging technologies that can enhance AEGIS London’s competitive standing within the market.
Bayles will report directly to Marianne Harvey, Chief Operating Officer, AEGIS London, who stated: Digitalisation, data and AI are among the key strategic priorities for AEGIS London, and we have invested significantly in these areas to improve how we operate as a business, serve our clients and broker partners, and trade with the market.
“With the wealth of experience he brings in driving transformative technology projects across the London market and wider financial services sector, Neil will play a pivotal role in ensuring our IT strategy remains closely aligned to, and supportive of, AEGIS London’s long-term success.”
Bayles is an experienced IT executive with a wealth of experience within the insurance and financial services sectors.
Prior to AEGIS London, he served as Solution Delivery Director for People’s Partnership. He also spent a decade of his career with QBE, where he held a number of positions throughout his tenure at the company.
Commenting on his appointment, Bayles said: “AEGIS London has a strong reputation across the London market as a high-performing, innovative syndicate that has invested significantly in digital and data capabilities to better serve its clients and the wider market.
“Joining an organisation that places digital and data as key pillars of its strategy was an extremely attractive proposition. I look forward to building on the work already underway and developing a market-leading IT strategy that supports and complements AEGIS London’s broader business ambitions.”
Alex Powell, Chief Executive Officer, AEGIS London, said: “Technology plays a critical role in driving our strategy and performance, and Neil’s appointment reflects our commitment to continued innovation and to setting AEGIS London apart in an increasingly competitive market.”
