Africa Specialty Risks (ASR), the developing-markets-focused re/insurance group, has announced the appointments of Keith Barrett and Yassine Asskour to underwriting roles.
Barrett joins the firm as Marine Underwriter, where he will be based in London and report to Aurelien Sauty, Head of Aviation & Marine.
He brings more than 40 years of experience in the African insurance market, having held senior underwriting roles at Swiss Re Africa and Mutual & Federal, where he oversaw marine portfolios across multiple African markets.
ASR has also expanded its underwriting team in Casablanca with the appointment of Asskour as Property Underwriter. In this role, he will report to Joseph C., Senior Underwriter.
Asskour brings more than eight years of underwriting experience across the Moroccan and wider African reinsurance markets. He joins ASR from Atlantic Re, where he most recently served as Senior Facultative Reinsurance Underwriter, Non-Life, African Markets. He has also held roles at AXA and Sanlam Maroc.
ASR said Barrett and Asskour’s combined experience and technical expertise will support its continued growth and commitment to local markets, as the company continues to enable development through specialty insurance solutions across Africa and other developing markets.
