American International Group, Inc. (AIG), a global insurer and reinsurer, has appointed Koki Umeda as Vice Chairman of AIG Japan, succeeding Hirofumi Shimoyama, who will transition to the role of Senior Advisor, effective July 1st, 2026.
Umeda has over three decades of global insurance experience and a strong track record of leadership across Japan, the Americas, and Europe.
James Nash of AIG Japan commented on the appointment, “Welcoming Koki Umeda as Vice Chairman while continuing to draw on Hirofumi Shimoyama’s leadership and partnership. I’m confident his perspective will help drive our next phase of growth.
