American International Group (AIG), an insurance organisation providing commercial and personal insurance solutions across more than 200 countries and jurisdictions, has promoted Sameer Mir to the role of Reinsurance Manager, GCC & North Africa.
The appointment follows almost 16 years with AIG, during which Mir has held a series of underwriting, business development and client-facing positions across Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his career with AIG, he has contributed to the company’s commercial insurance operations, portfolio management and regional market development.
Before taking up his new position, Mir served as Commercial Property Senior Underwriter at AIG MEA Limited in Dubai, where he managed renewal portfolios, developed new business opportunities and supported underwriting performance across the region. His responsibilities included portfolio analysis, facultative reinsurance placements, underwriting compliance, client engagement, technical training, internal auditing and collaboration with risk engineering, claims and finance teams.
Earlier in his career with AIG, Mir was Business Development Manager in Kuwait, where he focused on commercial lines growth, strengthening broker and partner relationships, developing distribution channels and supporting sales strategy. He also held the positions of Business Development Officer at AIG MEA Limited and Client Services Officer at AIG Kuwait.
Prior to joining AIG, Mir worked as Commercial Lines Supervisor at Millennium Insurance Brokers LLC, overseeing commercial risk portfolios and insurer relationships.
In his new role as Reinsurance Manager, GCC & North Africa, Mir will support AIG’s reinsurance activities across the region, drawing on his extensive underwriting expertise, market knowledge and long-standing experience within the organisation.
