Alex Veys to replace David Astor as Hiscox Chief Investment Officer

International insurer and reinsurer, Hiscox, has named Alex Veys as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), to replace David Astor, who is retiring in 2018.

Alex VeysVeys will join the firm in December, 2017, and work alongside Astor until he retires in July, 2018, after 15 years with Hiscox.

Veys brings more than three decades of industry experience to the role, and was most recently Senior Investment Advisor at LV=. From 2010 to 2016 Veys was the CIO of Partnership Assurance, where he oversaw substantial asset growth.

Hiscox Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Aki Hussain, said; “Alex brings a wealth of experience in managing large and complex asset portfolios drawn from over 30 years in investment management. He has a history of delivering strong and efficient performance in his funds and will be an able custodian of the Group’s assets.”

Commenting on Astor’s retirement, Hiscox Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bronek Masojada, said; “I would like to thank David Astor for his contribution to Hiscox over the last 15 years, during which he has overseen asset growth from £0.6 billion to £4.4 billion and delivered consistently strong investment returns. David has been a safe pair of hands during periods of economic uncertainty and a valued member of our senior management team.”
