Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS) has announced the appointment of Anthony Vassallo as the Global Head of Natural Resources, effective immediately.
In his new role, Vassallo will report to Gordon Browne, the Global Head of Specialty at AGCS.
As the Global Head of Natural Resources, Vassallo’s primary focus will be on further developing AGCS’s Natural Resources proposition to the market.
He aims to drive the climate transition across all segments of the energy industry, including renewables, oil and gas, power generation, and mining.
AGCS has expressed a strong ambition to expand its presence in the renewable energy and green technology sector, as well as in the emerging global hydrogen economy.
Vassallo brings extensive experience to his new position, having joined Allianz in 2003. Throughout his career, he has held various roles in the specialty lines of the business across the London Market, Asia, and South America, gaining valuable expertise in both underwriting and distribution areas.
Currently serving as the Global Energy Product Leader and Regional Head of Energy & Construction for the Regional Unit, Vassallo will continue to fulfill these responsibilities until a successor is confirmed.
Gordon Browne, the Global Head of Specialty at AGCS, expressed his delight in promoting Vassallo from his regional management position to join the global Specialty leadership team.
Browne praised Vassallo’s extensive knowledge and expertise across Allianz and described him as a strong leader capable of managing and shaping a global underwriting portfolio.
The appointment of Vassallo comes at a significant time for AGCS and Allianz operating entities worldwide as they embark on a new chapter as Allianz Commercial. Working in collaboration, they aim to build a robust business across the entire Commercial Property & Casualty segment, encompassing Mid Corp, Large Corp, and Specialty lines.
