AM Specialty Insurance Company (ASIC), an Excess and Surplus (E&S) insurance firm and an accredited reinsurer, has appointed Peter B. Smith as a non-executive director.
Smith has over three decades of experience in the insurance sector, having held executive leadership roles at insurance organisations in both the U.S. and internationally.
Most recently, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Risk Theory Insurance Services, a managing general agency platform generating over $500 million of Gross Written Premium. Before this, Smith was the President of Skyward Specialty, a U.S. specialty insurance carrier with a concentration in both admitted and E&S lines.
Smith has also served as the CEO of the UK Subsidiary of International General Insurance Company Ltd.
“Smith’s track record of building profitable growth in various specialty markets and his expertise in structuring reinsurance placements to support business initiatives will bring a wealth of knowledge to ASIC’s leadership team,” ASIC said.
The firm continued, “Smith’s vast experience and demonstrated leadership will provide invaluable insights to ASIC as the company scales its operations in an increasingly dynamic insurance landscape.”
