Property and casualty re/insurer AmTrust Financial Services has appointed Steven Moore lead underwriter of professional indemnity, as the firm moves to restructure the division.
Moore will be based in London and report to Bruce Whitmee, Chief Underwriting Officer and Angel Mas, Chief Executive Officer at AmTrust Europe.
He brings over 25 years’ experience in the space and has been with AmTrust since 2014. Before that he spent 17 years at Royal & Sun Alliance as a London market professional indemnity underwriting manager.
This announcement follows the completion of AmTrust’s $3 billion go-private merger deal in November 2018, in which the insurer’s outstanding shares were acquired by Stone Point Capital, together with AmTrust CEO Barry Zyskind, George Karfunkel and Leah Karfunkel.
AmTrust subsequently unveiled its ‘Forward’ strategy, an organisation-wide program focused on leveraging the company’s strengths to offer select commercial property and casualty products and services.
Following Moore’s arrival, Russell Newell, AmTrust’s former Lead Underwriter for Professional Indemnity, will move across to Collegiate, AmTrust’s wholly-owned Professional Indemnity MGA.
The move is designed to bring Newell’s knowledge and expertise to the underwriting unit within that operation.
He has been a leading Professional Indemnity underwriter for over 30 years, having worked at Aegon, Canopius and AmTrust, and is a past chairman of PI Forum.
