AmTrust welcomes Camber and Philpott to Property Insurance division

AmTrust Financial Services, global specialty property and casualty insurer, has announced the appointment of two new members to its Property Insurance division, as it looks to further grow its Property book in the UK and other European markets.

amtrustAndy Camber joins AmTrust as Lead Underwriter and Pete Philpott as Senior Underwriter in the Property line of AmTrust International Specialty, both of them will be based in London.

Camber brings with him more than 25 years of London and Lloyd’s market experience in the Commercial Property sector of the UK General Insurance industry, and will be reporting to Bruce Whitmee, Chief Underwriting Officer at AEL.

He joins from Brit Insurance, where he was Class Underwriter for more than eight years, leading a team of underwriters delivering profitable results and long-term sustainability. Prior to that, he held senior underwriting roles at Amlin UK and Zurich Insurance.

Philpott has over 15 years of experience in the property sector of the London Market, both within Lloyd’s and the company space. He will be reporting to Camber.

In his previous roles at Argo, and latterly at RiverStone International, he was responsible for the profitable development and ongoing management of both the UK and European property classes. Philpott has previously held property underwriting roles at Amlin UK and Zurich Insurance.

Commenting on the new appointments, Whitmee said: “Underwriting specialised property risks is one of AmTrust’s strengths, and I am delighted to welcome Andy and Pete to the team, both of whom have strong records in this field.”

Camber said: “I look forward to contributing to the profitable growth of Property insurance at AmTrust where I will be working closely with the Property teams based in Nottingham, London and Dublin. I am ready to take on the challenge of expanding AmTrust’s Property portfolio in the UK and other European markets.”
