AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, a Bermuda-based global insurer and reinsurer, has announced the appointment of Anthony Izzo as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), based at the company’s Red Bank and New York offices.
Izzo, drawing on 35 years of industry experience, has been tasked with leading the company’s global commercial strategy, working closely with its underwriting and regional leadership to enhance how AXIS engages with brokers and partners.
This aims to drive profitable growth and advance the carrier’s multi-variant distribution strategy while unlocking new business opportunities.
Izzo will be reporting to Vince Tizzio, President and CEO of AXIS, who commented: “Throughout his career, Tony has developed and grown strong commercial partnerships and mutually beneficial strategic relationships while driving disciplined growth across complex specialty markets.
“His deep and varied experience across distribution, underwriting, and broking will be an asset to our team, as we continue to execute on our specialty leadership strategy and maximize how we bring our products and capabilities to the market.”
Izzo is joining AXIS from Bermuda-based re/insurer Everest, where he most recently served as EVP/Group Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing commercial strategy and driving enterprise-wide growth and client relationships.
Prior to Everest, the executive held senior leadership roles at Guy Carpenter, TransRe, Aon Benfield, and Willis Re.
