Global professional services firm Aon and KNIAZHA VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP (KNIAZHA VIG), a Ukrainian subsidiary of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), have announced a $25 million reinsurance facility agreement with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) that will provide reinsurance coverage for a portfolio of war risk insurance policies with limits of up to $100 million.
Aon explained that the facility will enable KNIAZHA VIG to deliver comprehensive, innovative war-risk insurance solutions to SMEs and private individuals across Ukraine. The reinsurance contract became effective February 1, 2026.
According to the professional services firm, the latest announcement builds on its work to support Ukraine, representing more than $490 million in public and private capital it has coordinated to strengthen the country’s economy, enable foreign investment during the war and prepare for post-war reconstruction.
Readers may recall that Aon has previously worked with DFC on a first-of-its-kind reinsurance facility to support war risk policies for businesses in Ukraine.
KNIAZHA VIG is reportedly among the first insurers to enter into a reinsurance facility agreement with DFC, reinforcing its own role in supporting Ukraine’s economic resilience by mitigating conflict-related risks and helping catalyse private investment.
