Aon Germany Reinsurance CEO Jan-Oliver Thofern to retire

Aon, a global insurance and reinsurance broker and risk advisor, has announced that Jan-Oliver Thofern, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Reinsurance and Chairman of the Country Board for Aon in Germany, will retire from his roles, effective January 1st, 2027.

aon logoUntil his retirement, Thofern will continue to perform his duties in full, and his successor will be determined through the structured process Aon confirmed is already underway and that will be announced in due course.

He retires after serving for over three decades with Aon, having joined the broker in 1993. Thofern served in several leadership roles in Germany and internationally across Aon’s reinsurance operations.

In 2008, Thofern was appointed to the management board of Aon Deutschland Holding GmbH and became CEO of Reinsurance for Germany.

He later assumed additional responsibility as chairman of the country board for all Aon solution lines in Germany. Thofern began his career at Allianz Life Insurance Company.
