Arch Re, the reinsurance arm of Arch Capital Group Ltd., has announced a number of changes to its executive team, including promotions for Crystal Doughty and William Soares.
Doughty is now Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), Property and Soares has been named as CUO of Casualty and Specialty, both reporting to Arch Re Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jerome Halgan.
Doughty joined Arch in 2021 as a Senior Property Underwriter and has been leading several of the reinsurance division’s insurance-linked securities initiatives. Previously, Doughty spent 15 years with Markel in a variety of underwriting and actuarial roles.
Soares joined Arch Re in 2006, and has held a variety of senior underwriting roles, most recently Head of Casualty and Specialty.
At the same time, Arch Re has revealed that Pierre Jal, who most recently served as its Global CUO, has assumed the role of CUO for Arch Re Europe. He is now based in Zurich and continues to oversee underwriting strategy across both Arch Re and Arch Re Europe.
Jal started with Arch Re Europe in 2007 as an Underwriter/Actuary and has held senior underwriting roles at both Arch Re Europe and Arch Re.
Finally, Arch Re’s President, Matthew Dragonetti, who helped found Arch Re in 2001 and has been President and Head of Property since 2017, will expand his responsibilities to include leading client-centric initiatives across Arch Worldwide Reinsurance Group.
