Ardonagh’s pan-European managing general agent (MGA) platform, Orvia Underwriting, has appointed Carl van Lieshout as Head of Property for the Netherlands, effective June 1st, 2026
Orvia Underwriting was launched in January 2026, and has strengthened its underwriting, distribution, technology, and operational capabilities as it scales across European markets and business lines.
van Lieshout has over three decades of experience in underwriting, having served in senior positions at Everest International, Chubb European Group, ACE European Group, Allianz Global Risks, and ING Group. The MGA explained that he has a proven track record of successfully building, scaling and managing profitable property portfolios across the Benelux region.
Additionally, Lieshout’s team will include Wout Jan Weide, André Vooijs, and Robert Zijderveld, also effective June 1st, 2026.
Weide also has over three decades of experience in property risk engineering. He has helped major corporations manage property risks and will be responsible for supporting Orvia’s property proposition through technical risk assessment, risk improvement, and underwriting excellence.
Vooijs has over 30 years’ experience across insurers, MGAs, and insurance brokerage firms. Oriva explained that he is known for his analytical approach and results-driven mindset, and combines deep market knowledge with strong underwriting expertise.
Zijderveld has nearly 25 years’ experience in the property insurance market and is known for his technical underwriting knowledge, market insight and client-focused approach. He brings underwriting expertise with a particular focus on commercial property risks for multinational clients.
