Global specialty insurer and reinsurer, Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd., has announced the appointment of Matt Harris as the new head of its Europe and Asia operations, effective immediately.
The new role will see Harris report to Argo’s Head of International business, Jose A. Hernandez, and he brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience to the firm.
Argo Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mark E. Watson III, said; “Matt has a wealth of industry experience and a broad set of skills that fully align with Argo’s ambitions. His appointment is the latest step in positioning our company to execute our international growth strategy.”
Harris previously worked for AIG where he led South East Asia Country Operations, and he was previously CEO of AIG Malaysia Insurance, and CEO of AIG New Zealand. Before AIG, Harris worked for IAG in India, as a chief representative.
“Matt has demonstrated experience in the European and Asian markets and a strong understanding of industry best practices. His depth of market knowledge and array of local contacts will be invaluable in helping Argo realize its ambitions across these regions,” commented Hernandez.
