Specialty insurance and reinsurance firm Argo has announced the appointment of Tom McCartney as group head of ceded reinsurance.
McCartney will be based in Chicago and succeeds Katie Partington Howarth, who has been named as the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Head of Reinsurance Products Division at AXIS Re.
McCartney joined in February 2020 and has served as vice president of ceded reinsurance for the Americas.
Before joining Argo, he served as vice president of ceded reinsurance for Allied World in Bermuda from 2012 to 2018.
“Tom has been closely involved in shaping Argo’s reinsurance strategy,” said Tim Carter, executive vice president, chief underwriting officer.
“His strong technical skills and relationships in the market make him ideally suited for this important role. We look forward to working with Tom as we look to build on our past success.
