Argo names Vindivich to lead U.S. E&S, Coates replaces at Trident

International specialty insurance and reinsurance firm Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd.has appointed Ron Vindivich to lead its U.S. Excess & Surplus lines division, which includes the company’s Colony Specialty business.

Argo Group logoSue Coates has been promoted to senior vice president, to replace Vindivich in his former role as head of Trident Public Risk Solutions.

The pair take on their new roles immediately, reporting to Kevin Rehnberg, Argo’s U.S operations president. Art Davis, previously Argo’s E&S president, has reportedly left the company.

“We have a strong U.S. platform with a deep bench of high-performing leaders,” commented Rehnberg. “I appreciate all that Art has accomplished over the past four years as leader of this profitable business. Given Ron and Sue’s track records of success, I’m confident the company’s positive momentum will continue well into the future.”

Vindivich has over 30 years of re/insurance sector experience, most recently serving as president of Trident, Argo’s public entity insurance and risk management business. Before that he held a number of positions at Colony Specialty starting as underwriting vice president in 2006, before being promoted to senior vice president in 2010 and then moving over to lead Trident in 2013. Before his time at Colony, Vindivich held a number of positions at Chubb, Kemper and CNA.

Coates moves across to lead Trident with over 25 years of re/insurance sector experience, nearly 15 years of which was gained in the public entity sector.

Coates joined Trident in 2008 when the firm acquired Massamont, holding a number of roles within the underwriting division before being promoted to vice president, director of underwriting in 2016. Before Trident, Coates was a senior underwriter of public entities with Massamont Insurance, focused on large municipal and school risks.
