Ariel Re names Sammons as Active Underwriter of Syndicate 2006 following Lloyd’s approval

Ariel Re, a global reinsurance business with offices in Bermuda, London, and Hong Kong, has appointed Richard Sammons as Active Underwriter of Syndicate 2006, following approval from Lloyd’s.

ariel-re-new-11In the role, Sammons will lead Syndicate 2006 and help drive Ariel Re’s continued emphasis on underwriting discipline and delivering sustainable returns across its specialty reinsurance portfolio.

According to the firm, Syndicate 2006 is a key component of its Lloyd’s platform, complementing Syndicate 1910 and enhancing its ability to deploy capital flexibly across property, casualty and specialty reinsurance lines.

Darren Lednor, Managing Director of Ariel Re, commented on the appointment, “Richard is a highly respected market leader with deep technical expertise and a proven track record in specialty reinsurance.

“His disciplined underwriting approach, leadership experience and strong market relationships make him an excellent addition to Ariel Re.

Sammons has nearly 30 years of experience across the Lloyd’s and global reinsurance markets, having held senior roles at Gallagher Re and Hamilton Re.

Most recently, he served as Head of Aerospace for Gallagher Re’s UK business. Before that, Sammons spent a decade at Hamilton Re in Bermuda, where he rose to Head of Specialty and played a key role in building a diversified specialty reinsurance portfolio.
