Armour Group appoints two new senior executives

Armour Group Ltd has appointed Ranbeer Bhatia as Head of business development in North America and Andrea Piatti as Head of European Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).

mergers and acquisitionsBhatia, who will also be responsible for the group’s global capital markets function, has over 15 years of industry experience, with particular expertise in sourcing, structuring and executing M&A and capital raising transactions in the re/insurance industry.

He was previously the lead financial adviser to Armour Group on its $500 million permanent capital transaction in partnership with Aquiline Capital Partners.

Piatti has almost 20 years’ experience in the reinsurance and convergence sectors, and has a background in serving insurance clients in Europe, as well as designing and structuring customised reinsurance solutions.

Before joining Armour, Piatti was Head of Structured Solutions (EMEA) and Global Product Leader at MS Amlin in Zurich, where he developed and led MS Amlin’s global structured reinsurance efforts.

The company said that both new hires will support its growth strategy and global build-out for new business sourcing and product development, and will report to Steve Ryland, Group Senior Vice President and Armour’s Global Head, New Business Development.

Ryland commented on the appointments: “Both new hires have a long and proven history of business origination and development demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the wider financial sector and the global insurance and reinsurance marketplace.

“We are extremely pleased and indeed very fortunate to attract senior executives with such qualities, experience and product expertise.”

Armour is a Bermuda-based group of re/insurance and service companies that specialise in the creation and implementation of solutions and acquisitions within the run-off insurance marketplace.
