U.S. global insurance brokerage and risk management services firm Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has expanded its presence in California with the acquisition of property and casualty (P&C) brokers Buckman-Mitchell, Inc. and R.T. Beers & Company Insurance Services, Inc.
Buckman-Mitchell is a retail P&C and employee benefits agency and consultant that specialises in commercial and agribusiness and has offices in Visalia and Fresno.
Gallagher said that the Buckman-Mitchell team of Clifford Dunbar, Judy Fussel, Brent Swanson, Todd Williams, Stephan Chrisman, Linda Loflin and their associates will continue to operate from their current locations following the deal.
They will now report to Jim Buckley, head of Gallagher’s Northwest region retail P&C brokerage operations, and Norbert Chung, head of Western region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

Gallagher’s second acquisition, R.T. Beers & Company, is a retail P&C broker based in Long Beach that focuses on risk identification and mitigation and offers an exclusive group safety program for metal service centres.
Following the transaction, the brokerage’s team, consisting of Ralph Beers, John Lavey, Guy Pakenham and their associates, will also continue to operate from their current location, reporting to Scott Firestone, head of Gallagher’s Southwest region retail property/casualty operations.
