Veteran Richard Harries has been appointed to insurance and reinsurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.’s Board as a new Director.
Harries has more than 35 years of insurance industry experience in the UK and other highly regulated markets and has experience growing businesses as an operational leader.
He most recently served at Atrium Underwriters Limited., where he held roles as chief executive officer and director, chief underwriting officer and energy underwriter throughout a 27 year tenure.
Additionally, Harries previously worked for Willis Faber & Dumas where he held senior roles in the energy sector.
Commenting on the appointment J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., Chairman and CEO, said: “We are pleased to have Richard Harries join our Board of Directors. Richard brings deep insurance and technology experience to Gallagher, and he will add a unique and valuable perspective to our Board.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has recently expanded its capabilities in the US with the acquisition of California-based Cornerstone Commercial & Personal Insurance Services, Inc.
The re/insurance broker has also recently acquired Florida-based The John Galt Insurance Agency. Both of these moves form part of Gallagher’s ongoing expansion strategy.
