Open-source catastrophe modelling platform, Oasis Loss Modelling Framework, has expanded across Europe through a series of new partnerships, model innovations, and industry collaborations.
Namely, Oasis LMF has welcomed Arundo Re as its newest member, reportedly highlighting the growing demand for open-access modelling solutions within the European insurance and reinsurance markets.
Laurent Montador, Deputy CEO of Arundo Re, commented, “We are pleased to support Oasis LMF and join its strong network of supporters. The importance of open-source modelling in today’s world is clear – countries across the globe are facing catastrophic weather events, causing upheaval for families and businesses.
“Oasis LMF enables insurers to act proactively, which is critical in times of crisis. For that, we fully support their mission.”
The catastrophe modelling platform is also co-hosting a conference with SCOR on 25 September in Paris, focusing on exposure management, innovation modelling, and the benefits of the Oasis framework.
On this, Jean-Paul Conoscente, P&C CEO at SCOR, said, “At SCOR, we believe that knowledge sharing and talent development are essential to addressing the evolving challenges in catastrophe risk management.
“By collaborating with Oasis LMF on this conference, we are not only advancing technical expertise but also fostering the next generation of professionals who will lead the industry forward.
“The future of exposure management and modelling relies on empowering individuals with the right tools, insights, and opportunities to innovate, and we’re proud to support this vital initiative.”
In addition, a new hail model, developed by IPE for France, which has been licensed by Generali, is now available on the Oasis platform.
Simon Blaquière, Director – Head of Reinsurance, Nat Cat & Technical Projects at Generali, noted, “The 2022 hail storms caused the highest insured losses in France since 1999.
“This hail model offers an invaluable tool for insurers, enabling them to take a proactive approach to catastrophe planning. Flexibility offered by Oasis LMF is key to tailoring models to specific businesses, notably vulnerability components.”
Dickie Whitaker, CEO of Oasis LMF, stated, “2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Oasis LMF, with our continued expansion.. France, as a focal point for our growth and a key market, plays a significant role in this strategy, but we are also eager to broaden our network and increase visibility across the continent.
“Oasis LMF is not just a platform – it is a community that seeks to unlock and change the world of catastrophe modelling, enabling a deeper understanding of risk in insurance and beyond. We are deeply committed to empowering individuals and organisations worldwide to understand risk and uncertainty better.
“Our ecosystem, consisting of more than 18 suppliers and 100’s of models, reflects this mission and allows us to provide diverse, flexible, and open solutions to the market.”
