Ascot Group, a global specialty insurance firm, has announced the launch of its Marine & Energy Treaty reinsurance business. Alex Kirkby has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Head of Marine & Energy, Bermuda, with support from Emma Foxley, who will serve as Vice President of the division in Bermuda.
Simon Kimberely, Chief Underwriting Officer at Ascot Bermuda, expressed confidence in the appointments, saying, “I am delighted to welcome Alex and Emma as we augment our Marine and Energy offerings at Ascot. Alex and Emma’s combined expertise, experience and strong broker and client connections will complement our existing group relationships and capabilities.”
Kimberely emphasised Ascot’s reputation as a leader in the Marine sector, noting, “this strategic expansion into Marine & Energy Treaty business underscores our continued commitment to the space.”
Before joining Ascot, Kirkby had over a decade of experience in the Marine & Energy industry, working on both the broker and carrier sides.
Kirkby previously served as Vice President at Validus Reinsurance, where he managed underwriting for Marine, Energy, and Composite business, and also worked at PartnerRe and Willis Re.
Foxley previously worked at Lancashire Insurance Group as an underwriter in their Specialty Reinsurance segment before joining Ascot. Prior to that, she worked as a Portfolio Analyst at Markel CATCo Investment Management.
Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role at Ascot, Kirkby highlighted the company’s commitment to underwriting excellence, collaboration, and an entrepreneurial culture.
Kirkby further stated, “I am delighted to join their team of dedicated industry professionals and bring my knowledge and leadership experience to the company’s Bermuda platform to launch the Marine & Energy Treaty portfolio alongside Emma Foxley.”
