Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Athena Tolosa as Chief Financial Officer of Hamilton Re, its Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance underwriting platform.
Tolosa has over 18 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, having most recently worked at RenaissanceRe, where she chiefly served as Senior Vice President, Head of Finance – Reinsurance.
Before RenaissanceRe, Tolosa spent 11 years at Tokio Millenium Re (now RenaissanceRe) where she held roles of increasing seniority in both Bermuda and Switzerland. She has also previously worked with EY in Bermuda and PwC in the Philippines.
In the new role at Hamilton, Tolosa replaces Chad Cundliffe, who has retired from the organisation. She will report to Hamilton Re Chief Executive Officer Megan Thomas and Group Chief Accounting Officer Brian Deegan and is based in Bermuda.
Commenting on the change, Thomas said, “Athena’s appointment is an excellent addition to Hamilton and I look forward to working closely with her. She has an accomplished financial background with an impressive track record in the industry.
“Her experience and counsel will help to ensure our finance team pursues its key priorities in support of Hamilton Re’s continued success.
“We are grateful for Chad’s contributions during his over nine years with Hamilton. We respect his decision to move home to Canada with his family and wish him all the best.”
Deegan added, “I’m pleased to welcome someone of Athena’s calibre to the Hamilton team. She will play a key role in the leadership of our global finance team.”
