Atrium announces senior leadership changes for 2025

Atrium, a specialist insurer at Lloyd’s of London, has announced several senior appointments.

AtriumJames Cox has been appointed Group COO, in addition to his duties as Managing Director of Atrium Underwriters Limited, effective January 1, 2025.

His appointment follows James Lee’s planned retirement at the end of 2024, after 22 years with the firm.

Justin Emrich, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Atrium Underwriters, will also retire at the end of March 2025. Emrich joined Atrium in February 2006 and has served as CIO since 2012.

Jason Townshend will take on added responsibility for the IT and Data Management teams, and Emma Walter will be promoted to Head of Digital Technology.

Townshend has been working at Atrium Underwriters since 2000, and currently serves as Agency Chief Operating Officer.

Walter has been at the firm for the last seven years, currently serving as Delivery Manager.

John Fowle, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Many congratulations to James Cox, Jason, and Emma on their new responsibilities. Building on James Lee and Justin’s legacy we will continue to build a market leading operational platform for underwriting at Lloyd’s.”

He added, “I’d also like to thank James Lee and Justin for their tremendous contributions to Atrium over many years.”

Additionally, Hayley Maynard has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer, effective January 2025.

In her new role, she will focus on developing and delivering Atrium’s Group Strategy to support growth, profitability, and sustainability. Maynard will also play a key role in fostering ‘outside-in’ thinking across the business.
